See the best of Delhi, all in one day!
To start the day, we’ll jump in a car and tour the sights of your choosing. We have some recommended routes (and a hand-picked sightseeing packet to help you decide)—but the schedule is entirely flexible and customizable! Our guide will give you key information about the places that you visit, without overwhelming you with too many historical facts and figures.
Old Delhi is the busy and chaotic heart of Delhi. In the afternoon, we’ll head to this historic area of Delhi that was originally built as the capital of the Mughal Empire in 1639. We’ll get the chance to hop on a rickshaw, winding through the old lanes to visit historic monuments in the area such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and the Sikh Temple. In addition to the historic sites, we will also visit several markets including Asia’s largest wholesale spice market, Khari Baoli.
Visit Khari Baoli and learn about the spices and chilies that various invaders of India brought to the country and which are now so prominent in Indian cuisine.
Visit the beautiful Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib. Learn about Sikhism and see the communal kitchen where anybody is allowed to eat for free. The kitchen is completely volunteer run and if you would like to help out, you are more than welcome!
Wind your way up a narrow staircase and get a breath of fresh air as you take in the madness of Old Delhi from above.
In the afternoon, wander this spectacular 90 acre garden and discover tombs, mosques and bridges built during the 15th century Sayyid and Lodhis periods.
This magnificent 16th century tomb is the earliest large scale examples of Mughal architecture in India! Take some time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site and the surrounding buildings in this 30-acre garden complex.
