School Tours

Students welcome!

I expected Dharavi to be a smelly and disgusting place like I heard so often before. But the tour showed me that people here work hard to recycle any kind of material we are using every day and that really impressed me. I will try to reuse more things at home and also talk to my parents about it. I will also tell my friends at school about this tour."

Reality Tours and Travel offers educational Dharavi Tours to raise social awareness and to break down the negative image many people have towards slums. We believe that this approach should begin at an early age to raise strong socially minded adults. Therefore we would like to invite international and local school and college students on our Dharavi Tour.

The tour will be 100% customized to the requirements of the school- the timings will be tailored to the needs of the students and teachers and we can provide transport, food and drinks, provide handouts, facilitate discussions, and do a presentation to the students.

For this initiative, we want as many students as possible to see Dharavi and any fees are based on “ability to pay”. Hence, the cost per student would be between Rs 0 and Rs 350.

We have taken the following schools on the Dharavi tour with great success:

  • American School of Bombay
  • Dhirubhai Ambani International School
  • Oberoi International School
  • École Mondiale

We would love to arrange a personal meeting with you where we could present this initiative to you in more detail. Please get in contact with us.

In the same area one gets an idea of working conditions

You also see lots of other industries such as a bakery...

...and the pottery making area

The tour is an adventure. We go through narrow allies...

...and one sees and learns how the residents live
