Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the capital and enjoy some fun exercise!

New Delhi’s wide flat streets and magnificent monuments make it the ideal area for a bicycle ride. Two wheels allow us to slowly explore the small side lanes of New Delhi as well as the city’s more spread out highlights all in one day.

On this tour we’ll visit the must see New Delhi sights such as India Gate, Lodhi Gardens, and President’s Palace. But we’ll also introduce you to some hidden gems such as Agrasen Ki Boali (an ancient step well).

Towards the end of the tour, once we’ve worked up a good appetite, we’ll stop for a South Indian breakfast of masala dosa and idli along with chai or coffee

We start early to avoid traffic and the heat of the day.

Highlights

India Gate

This 42 meter arch was built to honour the Indian and British Soldiers killed along the Northwest border during World War I and Afghan Wars in 1919.

Lodhi Gardens

Wander through this spectacular 90 acre garden and discover tombs, mosques and bridges built during the 15th century Sayyid and Lodhi periods.

President's Palace

See where the president lives and in the surrounding Secretariat buildings and Parliament House, where the country is run. Unfortunately you’re not allowed inside but the buildings sit at the top of a small hill and the view overlooking Rajpath (the King’s Way) and India Gate in the distance is stunning.

Agrasen Ki Baoli

Hop off your bicycles and walk down this ancient step well. Rumoured to have been built in 10th century and rebuilt in the 14th century, this unique well has 103 steps and is 60 metres long.

South Indian Breakfast

Towards the end of the tour, enjoy a South Indian breakfast of masala dosa and idli along with tea or coffee.

FAQs

Cycling in Delhi!? Is it safe?

Safety is our number one priority and we take several precautions to ensure safety. Firstly, we leave early in the morning while the streets are relatively calm and the weather is cool. Secondly, we provide helmets for those that request them.

New Delhi is generally quiet and there won’t be too much traffic although there will be a little bit towards the end of the tour. If you are a nervous rider in traffic, then this tour might not be for you.

Are the bicycles and helmets included?

Yes, both bicycles and the helmet are included in the tour price. While helmets are not compulsory in India, you can request a helmet when you meet for the tour.

Why is it so early?

We leave early to avoid traffic and the heat of the day. Trust us, this is the absolute best time to see Delhi by bicycle and it is well worth the early wake up call!

What should I wear?

Clothing you would wear for exercise is ideal, but not necessary. Depending on the season, it can be chilly at the beginning of tour. Our recommendation is to dress in layers and wear comfortable clothes.

What do I need to bring?

Everything including snacks and food will be provided. Don’t forget your camera!

Is it appropriate to bring small children on the tour?

The tour involves quite a bit a cycling and so as a rule, we do not recommend this tour for anyone under the age of 16. But it’s up to you of course.

How far do we ride? How difficult is the cycling?

In total we cycle around 14km (about 9 miles) but that is spread over 3 to 3.5 hours and punctuated by frequent stops for drinks and visiting sights (breakfast towards the end of the tour). In general, the difficulty is very low as the terrain is very flat and participants don’t need to be in great shape.

Is the breakfast towards the end of tour included?

Yes! Towards the end of the tour we stop for a typical South Indian breakfast (masala dosa, idli). This is included in the price of the tour.

What if I have an issue with my bike?

Your guide will change it!
