Mumbai Sightseeing Tour
You decide where you want to go with this tour package!
We do, however, have a suggested route if you would like our help:
Our route focuses on religion (integral to the lives of most Indians) and you learn about Hinduism, Islam as well as Jainism. Visually, this is an impressive tour: you will admire the Haji Ali in the middle of the sea, enjoy views from Mahalaxmi Temple, get a one-of-a-kind perspective of Mumbai (and Marine Drive) from the Hanging Gardens. Dhobi Ghat, the world’s largest open-air laundry, as well as the Gandi museum are also conveniently located en route.
All sights are in the Mahalaxmi/Malabar Hill area. Malabar Hill is a 15 minute drive from Colaba. We generally use the same route on our Dharavi and Sightseeing Tour, so to save time and money you might want to do both on the same day (with a stop off for lunch).
This is a private package tour and customized for you, so you can omit or add anything to the list. Or, if you prefer, we can do a completely different route!
The world’s largest outdoor laundry! See the dhobiwallahs, or washermen, scrubbing sheets from Mumbai’s largest hospitals and hotels at this busy outdoor laundry area.
This temple is considered one of the most beautiful, intricately-decorated temples in the city. Jainism, an Indian religion, prizes peacefulness and non-violence above all.
Visit one of Mumbai’s greenest and most peaceful areas on top of Malabar Hill. You won’t believe the eye-popping view out over Marine Drive and the Arabian sea!
Surrounded by Hindu temples, this famous 12th century tank is believed to contain water with special healing powers. Rumour has it that its spring comes from the holy Ganges river.
Surrounded on all sides by water, this mosque is located at the end of a long causeway protruding into the sea. It is the tomb of Saint Haji Ali, a wealthy Muslim who renounced the world and proceeded to Mecca. It is said that he died in Mecca and the casket miraculously drifted to the spot where the mosque was later built in his honour.

We booked this tour for three of us as one of our group had been on a previous tour and rated it one his highlights across the whole of India.
So our guide Jenya had a tough billing to live up to! He was superb – tailoring the day to create a mix of different sights with some new experiences for everyone. He was very knowledgeable about all things Mumbai and a tremendous ambassador for the city and this company. Paul the driver was also charming and able to add to the tour.
We saw a whole range of sights including the flower market, viewpoints, The Haji Ali Daragh, a Jain temple, street food on the beach and the Ghandi museum.
It seems counter intuitive and even uncomfortable to have ‘slum tour’ mixed in with sightseeing, but the visit to Dharavi was the highlight of the day. The company’s clear social purpose and the way it is offering employment and reinvesting profits back into the area are accompanied by a narrative that challenges preconceptions. There are all sorts of issues that you have to confront about housing, regeneration, rights and environmental responsibilities within a community that is enterprising, connected and clearly proud.
We came across another Dhavari tour taking photos, which felt very wrong and this company have a clear policy about cameras not being allowed. Its a tour that will live long in the mind for changing your thoughts about how we live together in cities. If you want to visit Dhavari then this is the only tour you should take.
It is however great too see that a company with such purpose is able to be so much more – and the whole day was a standout experience. Now all three of us will be advocating these tours next time we are in India!
Wonderful tour company…added additional guests at last minute and were accommodated. Guide was excellent, knowledgeable and interactive. A first rate tour company. Good driver. Sorry we didn’t have time to do more tours with this company.
I cannot adequately describe how amazing our day was with Sonny. I, along with 5 colleagues, traveled around the city for most of the day. Sonny filled us with history, knowledge about his culture, customs, and shared a few personal tales about life in the big city. We traveled through markets and busy streets, the Gate of India, the Laundry, the Banganga Tank, and other various temples. He made us feel like one of the family. It was perfectly paced, a little walking, a little cool off time on a bus ride, more walking, etc. At no time did I feel unsafe or uncared for. I would recommend this experience to anyone. What is especially great is that part of the money for the tour goes back to education of children of the community.
As a solo woman traveler, I was hesitant to venture out into Mumbai by myself. Booking a private tour with Reality Tours was the best decision I could have made. Raj, my guide for the day, showed me sights I never would have dared visit on my own. He was friendly, knowledgable, and happy to answer all of my questions about Indian culture and Mumbai. Whenever I took a particular interest in something, he took care to spend more time there or provide more detailed information. Raj also has a super power – he’s able to stop Mumbai traffic with a single hand, which is no small feat! I will never forget the peaceful quiet of Bombay Panjrapole, the twists and turns and colors of all the markets, and eating pani puri at Chowpatty beach at sunset. Thank you, Raj, for being such a gracious host!
The tour was great..I’m speechless. My guide added a lot of interesting sports to my list. I highly recommend this tour. Especially if you are traveling alone as woman, it is the perfect tour. I felt save during the whole trip.
