Unlike most tour companies that rely on freelance guides, in Mumbai and Delhi ours work exclusively for us, many coming from humble backgrounds within the communities we support. They undergo extensive training and must demonstrate care, passion, and knowledge before leading a tour. Throughout their journey with us, they receive ongoing training, monitoring, and support to ensure top-quality tours.
With our unique social impact model, you’re not just seeing places—you’re supporting them! Since day one, our goal has been to dispel negative stereotypes around low-income communities and give back in meaningful ways.
We knew tourism could help us achieve this, so we developed a unique social impact model: eighty percent of our post-tax tour profits and 100% of merchandise sales fund Reality Gives, our sister charity, which drives positive change in our communities by supporting quality education initiatives. The communities where we operate are integral to Reality Tours and Reality Gives. Many of our guides, teachers, and staff come from these communities, particularly the areas featured on our slum tours.

Additionally, this approach allows us to provide our guests with the attention they deserve during their experience. Our educational slum tours and city tours have a maximum of six people, while our shared tours can include up to ten, which is a great number for travelling across India together.
For private tours, group sizes can vary based on your request, but we always aim to keep the experience personal and engaging.
We maintain a strict no-photography policy during our educational slum tours of Dharavi and Sanjay Colony to respect the privacy and dignity of the residents.
