To kick off your explorations around Maharashtra, we’ll take you by early morning train (3.5 hours) to Nashik–the wine capital of India. We’ll then take a car to Sula Vineyards, covering 160 acres of land, which wine lovers won’t want to miss, as India’s most well-known and loved wine is found here. We’ll tour through the lush vineyards, learn the art of wine-making, and taste the wine, of course!
In the afternoon, we’ll look around Nashik city, including Panchavati Temple, before taking another train to Aurangabad the home of many World Heritage Monuments,, including Ellora Cave Temple, Ajanta caves and Bibi Ka Maqbara. We will arrive in Aurangabad, reach the hotel, and take a much-needed rest after a long and productive day!
Included:
– Sula winery visit
– Orientation tour in Nashik
We leave at around 8 am by car for Ajanta Caves (3 hrs), and we will spend the day exploring the caves, encircling a gorge along the Waghora River. This spectacular complex houses 29 caves full of ancient Buddhist murals, paintings, and sculptures. We’ll later return to the hotel in Ellora.
Note: The Ajanta Caves are closed on Mondays
Included:
– Local guide for Ajanta Caves

– Entry fee for Ajanta caves: INR 600pp
We’ll get an early start to explore the Ellora caves. This is one of the world’s largest rock-cut temple complexes, boasting artwork, monuments, and inscriptions from Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. The proximity of these monuments to each other is indicative of how religions existed in harmony over the course of India’s history.
After exploring Ellora Caves, we’ll venture to Aurangabad to see Bibi Ka Maqbara, also known as the Baby Taj Mahal, with some fabulous photo opportunities.
In the afternoon, we’ll catch a comfortable train back to Mumbai (7.5 hrs), with some pleasant views of rural Maharashtra. On your arrival in Mumbai, we will transfer you to your hotel and your tour will be complete.
Note: The Ellora Caves are closed on Tuesdays.

At present all our tours are of fixed itinerary and duration. Unlike many operators we directly arrange all the tour services ourselves without using any agents. This makes sure we are confident in the quality of the service offered and allows us to focus on our unique local community connections in the areas visited.
Nonetheless, all private tours can certainly be customised
Yes, we do offer private tours, but the price will need to be increased accordingly. Please get in touch for a quote!
The nearest airport is Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Airport (Aurangabad). It connects to major cities in India.
We stay in well-appointed mid range hotels, locally owned where possible. All hotels have hot water and most have Wi-Fi. Single passengers will share a twin room with another group member of the same gender if required. You are welcome to pay extra to ensure you have a room to yourself throughout the trip – please get in touch for costs. Yes absolutely! Our tours are minimum 2 people but for private tours we can look at providing dates that completely suit you. If you are interested in a shared tour we can often also still offer your preferred dates, guarantee the tour and invite other passengers to join.
All our tours ensure easy international & domestic flight connections, and hence, we do not arrange such flights. However, if there are any flights included within your tour itinerary, we do organize these and they are included within the tour cost.
Yes, we can arrange airport pick-up and drop-off if you request it.
The tour was well organized! Every interaction we had with you was really great. The Reservation Team was very responsive, willing to help, and to accommodate. Our guide, Chetan, was also really great…We will keep amazing memories from our tour. Thank you!!
Julien Roch and Chloé Moneyron, France (Ajanta and Ellora caves)
The sightseeing tours were the best.. I did not expect the organisation to send a guide as an escort on all the transportation between sights, but I’m really grateful they did, because, despite coming as a solo traveler, I never felt alone.
Sara Laktos, Romania ( Mumbai Sightseeing and Ajantha & Ellora)
You can, but it is not a good idea. Ellora is 13 km from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Ajanta is 97 km away. Visiting both in one day feels rushed, and you won’t be able to enjoy the tour and the caves.
Ajanta Caves close on Mondays. Ellora Caves close on Tuesdays.
2-3 days are the best. You can spend one full day at Ajanta and one full day at Ellora. Each site takes around 3–4 hours to explore.
The entry fee for both sites is ₹600 for foreign visitors. Online tickets cost ₹550. You can book them on the official ASI website. here.
Yes, you can take photos for personal use. Flash and tripods are not allowed, especially inside Ajanta, to protect the artwork.
A typical visit for a guided tour is approximately 2 to 3 hours. Tour through the lush vineyards, learn the art of wine-making, and taste the wine!
Along with Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Chatrapati SambhajiNagar is also known for Bibi Ka Maqbara, Aurangabad Caves, Daularabad Fort, and Shree Bhadra Maruti Mandir among many places.
The best time to visit is from October to March. The weather is pleasant and good for walking.
