Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and stories of Old Delhi with our early morning Bicycle Tour and enjoy a thrilling ride through one of India’s oldest neighbourhoods.

Old Delhi’s narrow lanes, historic gates, and lively markets make it one of the most exciting areas of the city to explore by bicycle. Riding on two wheels allows us to glide through hidden alleys as well as the most iconic streets, all before the crowds arrive.

On this tour, we’ll pass some of Old Delhi’s most famous landmarks, such as Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, and the centuries-old spice market at Khari Baoli. Along the way, we’ll also uncover lesser-known corners like Paan Mandi and the flower market that most visitors never get to see.

We start early in the morning to avoid traffic and to experience Old Delhi at its most peaceful and authentic.

Highlights

The Turkman Gate is so called because it lies near the Tomb of Shah Turkman. It is one of the four existing surviving gates of Shahjahanabad built during the reign of Shah Jahan in the 17th century.

Pass through a lively meat market that offers an unfiltered look at how Old Delhi’s food supply chain works. As shopkeepers set up for the day, you will witness a side of the city that only visitors experience.

Pause outside Jama Masjid- a stunning 17th-century masterpiece built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Take in the peaceful atmosphere of this iconic landmark and enjoy a refreshing lassi nearby.

Chandi Chowk is one of India’s famous historic streets. Step into a vibrant mix of heritage, colours, shops and daily life, which was once designed as a royal Mughal boulevard by Princess Jahanara; an essential experience for anyone visiting Delhi.

Explore a historic jewellery market known for its fine silver, traditional designs, and gemstone pieces. This lively lane offers a colourful glimpse into India’s deep connection with craftsmanship and adornment.

Built using red stones in 1650, by one of Emperor Shah Jahan’s wives, Fatehpuri Masjid (mosque) is a symbol of Mughal and Indo-Islamic architecture.  Experience a quiet moment of reflection at Fatehpuri Mosque, where timeless Mughal architecture meets the vibrant energy of Old Delhi’s streets just outside.

Visit Asia’s biggest spice market, Khari Baoli, and learn about the spices and chillies that various invaders of India brought to the country and which are now so prominent in Indian cuisine.

Step into a burst of colour at Old Delhi’s early morning flower market, located in Khari Baoli near Jama Masjid, where garlands of marigolds, roses, and jasmine are traded at sunrise. Watch vendors sort, weigh, and string fresh flowers that will be used in temples, shops, and homes across the city, offering a beautiful and fragrant glimpse into Delhi’s daily rituals.

Located in Khari Baoli, Paan Mandi is one of Old Delhi’s oldest trading areas, where betel leaves arrive from across India and are supplied to paan shops all over the city. Visiting this market offers a quick glimpse into a tradition that continues to thrive today.

Visit Ajmeri Gate, a historic entrance to Old Delhi’s walled city, and see how the streets around it are alive with local shops, street vendors, and daily life. Its sturdy Mughal-era architecture makes it a great spot to appreciate history while observing the vibrant energy of the neighbourhood today.
