This is Reality Tours and Travel

Reality tours founders Krishna and Chris sitting on a rooftop at Dharavi used on our blog on slums, social change and the story of Reality tours and travel.

We are Krishna and Chris- the founders of Reality Tours and Travel. We founded the organisation in October 2005, and by January 2006, we ran our very first tour: the launch of the first Educational Slum Tour in Dharavi, one of Asia’s largest slums.

We aimed to raise awareness about life in slums, challenge negative stereotypes, and fund local community projects with 80% of post-tax profits from the tours. In 2013, we expanded to Rajasthan and Kerala with multi-day tours, and in 2014, we opened our first office in Sanjay Colony, a slum and industrial area in Delhi. From there, we launched our first Delhi slum tour and educational programs under our NGO, along with  Delhi City Tours, Agra tours, and North India tours.

What started as a single tour has since grown into a leading socially responsible tourism company that offers award-winning experiences across Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan, and more- all with one mission: to showcase real India and give back to local communities.

Travel like a Traveller (Not a Tourist)

Unique cultural experiences with Reality Tours & Travel – from camel safaris in Rajasthan and night cycling tours in Mumbai to meeting traditional performers in South India

Whether you decide to take one of our slum tours, city tours, Multi-Day tours, or a combination of all, you will not just be sightseeing, but also connecting. You can join a street food walk and taste chaat from a vendor who has been perfecting his recipe for more than 20 years. Take a train to a village in Heranjalu (Krishna’s home) and participate in the village activities that are happening at the time. Walk through a flower market at dawn in Mumbai, or visit a classroom you helped fund by taking a tour with us.

We will show you the typical tourist sites…. And the not-so-typical… You will get a rounded view of the country, as a traveler… and not as a tourist.
