Get up early to see Mumbai as few others do on our Mumbai At Dawn Tour!
Mumbai is on the go 24 hours a day, and if you take the effort to wake up a little bit early, you can experience a completely different side of the city that few get to see!
Your journey begins with the fascinating sight of newspaper sorting, where thousands of papers are swiftly bundled, sorted, and dispatched by hand. We then head to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) — one of the busiest railway stations in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Mumbai at dawn appears quieter than normal initially, but when you enter the various markets (fruit, meat, fish)at the Crawford Market, you will be woken up by the size and energy of these places with their people carrying, cleaning, selling, and hustling. The fragrant smells of the spices, vegetables, and fruit linger in the air as you pass by, but so do the fish and the meat. The meat market is not for the faint-hearted (you can choose to skip this), and even the most ardent carnivores might raise an eyebrow at the fate of the thousands of poor chickens.
You’ll then witness the open-air spectacle of Dhobi Ghat, where traditional washermen scrub and hang laundry in a scene that feels frozen in time. From here, hop on a local train and ride alongside Mumbai’s early commuters. The energy peaks at Dadar Flower Market, a burst of colour and fragrance where vendors hustle through narrow, flower-filled lanes. Finally, unwind at the serene ISKCON Temple, where chants and marble halls offer a peaceful pause amid the city’s morning rush.
Travel will be by an air-conditioned car. If you are doing a private tour, we will pick you up from your hotel or residence.
