In 14 days we will visit India and Nepal’s most essential destinations including Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur (the Golden Triangle) alongside Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan (Nepal Triangle). We’ll take you on an enchanting adventure to discover the rich, diverse, astounding landscapes of Nepal coupled with the glorious grandeur of India’s famous Golden Triangle trail.

Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi

Welcome to Delhi, the nation’s capital, a vibrant city with an unbelievable amount of history! Your tour guide will meet you at the airport and then you will transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time and how tired you are, the tour guide will plan the rest of the day with you accordingly, which could include some sightseeing plus a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Delhi

Today you can do any of the city tours or slum tours which we do. We suggest in the morning visiting Sanjay Colony, a small slum built on 25 acres of land located in the south of Delhi near the Bahai Lotus Temple and Iskcon temple. Learn about the working and residential life and witness how despite the challenging living conditions it remains an area charged with positive energy and strong community. You will also learn about the NGO programs directly supported by your visit.

In the afternoon we suggest doing some more traditional sightseeing of your choice such as visiting India Gate, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s tomb, Agrasen ki Baoli (a stepwell) and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh temple and one of the largest community kitchens in India which feeds more than 10,000 people per day. In the evening, if you still have the energy, you can explore old Delhi and go on our popular food tour if you wish!

Day 3: Delhi / Jaipur

We’ll leave Delhi in the morning by car, arrive in Jaipur (5 hrs) by the afternoon, and check in to our hotel.

We will then go on an orientation walk around Jaipur, also known as the Pink City of India and you will soon notice this as almost every building within the historic centre is made and painted of pink terracotta colour.

Later in the afternoon, we will head to Nahargarh Fort for the stunning sunset view of the pink city

Day 4: Jaipur

Today we will go on a full day tour of Jaipur. Including the visit to Amber Fort with its magnificent views, and in the afternoon we will continue to explore the rest of the city, such as Hawa Mahal, and Jantar Mantar, and Bapu Bazaar if you wish to do some shopping. There’s also the option to see a Bollywood film at the famous Raj Mandir cinema.

Day 5: Jaipur / Agra

In the morning, we’ll drive to Agra, home of the Taj Mahal and magnificent Agra Fort. We will arrive in Agra in the afternoon where we’ll check into a family run guest house and head to see the Taj Mahal during the golden light of Sunset. Be amazed by the renowned Mughal architecture and delve into the distinctive history of the mausoleum. Head back to the homestay in the evening after dinner. If you are not tired, have a drink on the rooftop overlooking the Taj!

Day 6: Agra / Orcha

Today, we’ll start our journey with a train ride, heading to Orchha to escape India’s bustling cities and take a glimpse into a rural lifestyle. Once we reach Orcha, we’ll hop on a rickshaw, India’s favorite mode of transportation, to reach the hotel. After checking in, we’ll visit the palace complex to explore the rich ancient history of the region. In the evening, you have the option to witness a Hindu prayer ceremony known as puja – a truly unforgettable experience.

Day 7: Overnight Train to Varanasi

Today’s itinerary includes a visit to a village where we will see a one-of-a-kind paper making plant that was created to empower tribal women from the area. The plant uses recycled clothing and wood pulp to produce all of its paper products. After the visit, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore Orchha at your own pace or learn to cook like a local from a nearby woman. In the evening, we will board an overnight train to Varanasi

Day 8: Varanasi

This morning, we’ll arrive in Varanasi, the holiest city for Hindus who travel for pilgrimage, worship, mourning, or to die. Upon arrival at the train station, we’ll take you to the hotel. Later, take an orientation walk along the ghats and visit the old city. At sunset, embark on a Ganges boat trip to witness the world’s largest arti ceremony.

Day 9: Varanasi

Kick off the morning with a breathtaking sunrise boat tour on the sacred Ganges. Afterward, we’ll head back to the hotel to enjoy a delicious breakfast before visiting the magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The afternoon is yours to explore the winding alleys, visit various temples and shrines, or get lost in the charm of the Old City. Alternatively, you can opt to visit the site of the Buddha’s first sermon or relax by the banks of the Ganges, observing life unfold around you.

Day 10: Varanasi / Lumbini

Today, we will hit the road early and travel north to cross the border into Nepal. Our destination is Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This location is not only a popular pilgrimage center, but it’s also teeming with historical significance. We’ll even get the chance to visit the Maya Devi Temple inside the complex, where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama.

Day 11: Chitwan national Park

Our journey today will take us through a stunning belt of marshy grasslands, savannas, and forests nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas. This region is teeming with an array of exotic wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, Bengal tigers, bears, and leopards. After a day of exploration, we will be spending the night at an indigenous Tharu community homestay. Here, we can immerse ourselves in their rich culture through traditional dance and song performances.

Day 12: Chitwan national Park

Join us today for an exciting jeep safari as we explore the diverse ecosystems of the UNESCO Site Chitwan National Park. Afterward, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through the village and rice paddies. In the evening, you’re free to enjoy your own. Later join another night of dance, songs, and traditional Nepalese food with your Tharu community hosts.

Day 13: Chitwan / Pokhara

Our journey towards Pokhara will begin in the morning, where we will witness the stunning beauty of the Annapurna Range. Once we arrive in the afternoon, we’ll settle in at the hotel before embarking on an exciting boat ride on Phewa Lake. Known for being home to the 3 tallest mountains in the world, Pokhara is a perfect destination for thrill-seekers and adventure enthusiasts.

Day 14: Pokhara

Rise and shine at 5 am to witness the breathtaking sunrise from Sarangkot Valley. Take in the picturesque views of the mountainous region that will leave you in awe. After a delicious breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of the Gupteshwar (Cave) Temple, Devil’s Fall, Sethi River, and the International Mountain Museum.

To add some fun and excitement to the day, we can organize a cricket, football, or volleyball game near the river. Alternatively, take a refreshing swim in the river to cool off.

Day 15: Pokhara / Kathmandu

Today, we will venture to the beautiful capital city of Nepal. On the way you can opt to visit the Manakamana Temple, which can be reached by one of the world’s longest ropeways. If you’re afraid of heights, don’t worry, we’ll be there to support you every step of the way! By evening, we plan to arrive in Kathmandu. Once we have checked in, we will head out for an orientation walk with your tour leader.

Day 16: Kathmandu

Join us in the morning as we explore some of Kathmandu’s most visited attractions. Our itinerary includes Durbar Square, Kumari Palace, Pashupati Temple, and Swayambhunath Stupa. In addition to these historic landmarks, Kathmandu offers an exciting sensory experience that may be overwhelming to some. The city is bustling with people, sounds, sights, smells, and more.

Day 17: Departure

Sadly the tour will end today. You can leave anytime after breakfast today back home or to your next destination. We will transfer you to the airport.

Can this tour be customised?

Can we have a private tour?

Yes, we do offer private tours. Please get in touch for a quote!

What is the nearest airport?

Delhi has an international airport (Indira Gandhi International Airport). Domestic flights from all major Indian cities are also available. Most international flights fly out of Kathmandu.

What is the accommodation like?

We stay in well-appointed mid range hotels, locally owned where possible. All hotels have hot water and most have Wi-Fi. Single passengers will share a twin room with another group member of the same gender if required. You are welcome to pay extra to ensure you have a room to yourself throughout the trip – please get in touch for costs. Upgrades to 4* accommodation are available at an additional cost for the private tours.

Are meals included?

The tour includes some meals including breakfast in the majority of our overnight hotels, and a welcome dinner is included.

Are all of the activities included?

The package includes several activities and entry fees. We also have additional suggestions for activities that aren’t included in the tour price. Please see the itinerary tab to see the included and optional activities.

How does payment work? Can I pay online?

A deposit payment of 50% is required. Full payment is then due by at least 30 days before tour departure. Advanced payment is necessary to confirm the booking and can be made by paying by bank transfer or by using our online card payment system.

Can we do any dates not on your website?

Yes absolutely! Our tours are minimum 2 people but for private tours we can look at providing dates that completely suit you. If you are interested in a shared tour we can often also still offer your preferred dates, guarantee the tour and invite other passengers to join.

Do you arrange international flights?

All our tours ensure easy international and domestic flight connections before and after the tour. We can certainly arrange for flights for you as well; simply get in touch with us.

Do you offer airport transfers?

All of our nearest arrival airports offer pre-paid, safe and simple taxi options to your start hotel. So we prefer to provide detailed information on this in advance rather than charge you extra unnecessarily like some operators!
