Learn about Sanjay and celebrate the Festival of Lights with the community.
Diwali is Hinduism’s biggest festival, not to mention the brightest as well. This Diwali we have a very special tour planned. First we’ll take a few hours to learn about working and residential life in Sanjay on our tour.
Then we’ll head out to light some oil lamps and some sparklers and witness the celebrations. Finally we’ll have some traditional sweets at a local family’s home, learn more about Diwali, and make some rangoli designs.
Our mission is to improve the quality of lives in our communities. Like all of our tours, 80% of the profits fund our NGO Reality Gives and our partner NGOs. Thank you for supporting our programs by signing up for the tour!
We will welcome you to our reception centre in Sanjay Colony with flower garlands, then we’ll take you through a festival prayer and lighting diyas (oil lamps) .
Our guide will share information about Diwali: learn more about Festival of Lights on a personal level and finally create some rangoli designs together!
Learn about the realities of residential life as you wonder the narrow lanes with your guide.
See how materials are painstakingly separated to be recycled and then observe the many factories making the finished items.
Learn about education in Sanjay Colony, what local NGO’s are doing to fill the gap and what Reality Gives is doing to support the local education ecosystem.

We had a truly wonderful time joining the special Sanjay Colony Tour for Diwali this year. We had two fantastic guides who showed us around Sanjay Colony, explained to us the everyday lives of the local families and gave us an impression of the main economic activities in the area. After that we were encouraged to join some Diwali activities which was very fun! If you are in Delhi make sure to take a tour with Reality Tours and if you are there for one of the holidays – lucky you – make sure to join the special tours as these really offer a magical experience. We now definitely want to come back for Holi at some point!
