South India has something for everyone. We’ll show you a different side of the rich region: explore the ancient temples of Hampi, explore the churches and remnants of Portuguese Goa, laze about on some of India’s most loved beaches. Starting from Mumbai, this 11 day tour package takes guests through some of South India’s best kept secrets–a world of history, culture and nature to discover. You’ll see why when you visit this interesting and laidback part of India.
But we’ll also take you further and deeper into South India. We’ll visit rural Karnataka where guests will stay at a family home. Learn about village life as you spend two days in this coconut and fish filled tropical paradise. A mix of must-see sights such as the temples of Hampi, the beaches of Goa, and numerous opportunities for local interaction make this tour the ideal choice to experience a different side of South India.

Sightseeing in the city on Day 2.
Arrive in Mumbai at any time and check into the hotel any time after 12:00pm. There are no activities this day, so enjoy exploring the city on your own. In the evening, your guide will come to greet you and the rest of the group in the hotel lobby. Over a welcome dinner, your guide will go over the itinerary for the next 14 days!
On your second morning, we will travel together to Dharavi, one of Asia’s biggest slums and the heart of small-scale industry in Mumbai. The tour of Dharavi, our company’s signature tour, ends in the early afternoon and you’ll have this afternoon free to explore on your own or join any of our other tours.

We’ll arrive in Hubli by overnight train.
Badami in North-central Karnataka is home to some of India’s most spectacular Hindu Cave temples. We’ll take you to explore the wonders of the Badami Cave complex.

Travel by car to Hampi, departing Badami in the morning after breakfast, arriving in Hampi in the late afternoon.

During the journey to Hampi, your guide will show you many aspects of village life, including understanding some local industries. Upon arrival in Hampi in the evening, you’ll have time to get settled into your guesthouse and your guide will go over what the itinerary is for your next day in Hampi.
On Day 5, you’ll have the chance to visit the astounding ancient city and historical marvel of Hampi. You’ll learn about what makes the city of ruins and temples a UNESCO World Heritage site, taking in the fascinating history of the centre of an ancient civilization in Karnataka. Get ready for a full day of walking and exploring!

Explore the land of waterfalls and rolling hills in Karnataka

On Day 6 we’ll continue south from Hampi to Shivamogga, home to waterfalls, rolling hills and mystical temples. Upon arrival, we’ll settle into our guesthouse, and your guide can recommend a number of restaurants for dinner this evening after the journey.
Day 6: Transport to Shivamogga
In the morning we will drive to Heranjalu village.

Along the way to Heranjulu, we’ll pay a visit to the Kolluru Mookambika Temple. When we get to Heranjulu we’ll be welcomed by a local family into their home, where we will be spending the next few days. Your guide will orient you with an introductory walk through his village and introduce you to his friends. Take advantage of his intimate local knowledge to learn about life there.
In the morning after breakfast, we will participate in whatever village activities are happening at the time. This could be farming, a celebration, walking to the nearby river that is central to local life, or visiting the nearby coast and backwaters. We’ll then visit Murudeshwar Shiva Temple, the second tallest Shiva idol in the world. You’ll have the option to visit some local markets as well.
We will once again join your local family for a group dinner in the evening.
Day 7: Transport to Heranjulu Village, dinner with family
Day 8: Activities at Heranjalu village, dinner with family
We’ll take a morning train to Goa.

Upon arrival in Goa, we’ll take you to discover the world of Old Goa, Panjim. Wander through the old Latin quarters and take in the architecture and churches that characterize the area. Take in history about the Portuguese in Goa and their influence on the state. Afterwards, we’ll end our day with a drive to Calangute beach.
The following day is your last day to enjoy the beach in true Goan fashion! Feel free to laze about, go for a dip in the Arabian sea and sip on fresh coconuts.

Mumbai has an international airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport). Domestic flights from Delhi and other major Indian cities are also available.

We stay in well-appointed mid range hotels, locally owned where possible. All hotels have hot water and most have Wi-Fi. Single passengers will share a twin room with another group member of the same gender if required. Upgrades to 4* accommodation are available at an additional cost.
The tour package includes various meals including breakfast in the majority of our overnight hotels and dinners.

A deposit payment of 20% is required. Full payment is then due by at least 60 days before tour departure. Advance payment is necessary in order to confirm the booking and can be made via bank transfer or by using our online card payment system
Yes absolutely! We can look at providing dates that completely suit you. If you are interested in a shared tour we can often also still offer your preferred dates, guarantee the tour and invite other passengers to join.

All of our nearest arrival airports offer pre-paid, safe and simple taxi options to your start hotel. So we prefer to provide detailed information on this in advance rather than charge you extra unnecessarily like some operators!
